JUST MY PERCEPTION. . .

Prompt: Perception

The word perception can mean a variety of things to different people. Living in an era as we are today, comes with different perceptions within cultures, ethnicity, age, and gender. We have all experienced different pasts, which sometimes affect our views on subjects. Perception itself comes from within the individual person, which is what sometimes alter a “true” view. This is where Gorgias idea goes into place, which states that objective perception is impossible.

When speaking on this diligent subject, the first thing that comes to mind is racism. Being that I reside in a culture that has issues with the differences of another person skin color. Of course it is seen less now then ever, but the presence is still here. People are just becoming use to the idea of different races being together intimately, which my perception of the situation is different. I don’t think that this should have been a problem in the beginning. As long as the two people have chosen to be together, it shouldn’t be an issue. Of course this is easier said than done, because we are so grounded into our own ways. Society finds itself so wrapped up in right and wrong that we miss the bigger issues.

Now that was just my perception. I don’t think that anyone should judge another person on his/her perception. Again this is just the way that we actually see certain situations, which usually gives us the answers of our right and wrong. I honestly believe that everyone’s perception could be true, because who are we (society) to tell someone that their views are wrong. As long as a person perception doesn’t interfere with the harming of another person, or break the law. I don’t think that anybody could honestly judge a person on how they see things. We may not like it, but that’s life. Unfortunately we can’t change these situations, but we can begin to understand them. There are going to be some people who won't come terms with these facts, but we can only go on to hope.
